Gnomes work for some...Pixi does it in my garden.

The following images are of pieces that can range in size from 1/2 inch to 36 inches and vary from a fraction of an ounce to over thirty pounds. They are made from scavenged coat hangers and telephone wire. The smallest uses about two inches of phone wire. The largest is a single strand of wire from a complete roll of wire 3600 feet in length - now a fish that is about ten inches long, five inches wide by six inches tall and weighing about ten pounds, mostly copper. A majority of my wire creatures have been given as gifts to friends over the years, one was sent to USA Today when the movie Godzilla debuted and actually appeared in an issue about the hoopla over the re-make of the movie.
